quarantine does not mean you cannot still hang out with your friends! i am a social butterfly, and i know how hard it is to not be able to have much social interaction…. but i am here to share some of the activities i did with my friends to stay connected with them!
- movie night! you can download the “teleparty” google chrome extension to watch movies or shows from netflix, hbo, disney+, hulu, etc. all together. this program plays videos and sounds in sync with all of your screens – so everyone can get cozy in their own home and watch the show or movie of your choice socially distant, but together.
- skribbl.io is such a fun game to play with your friends and family. click on this link, and give everyone in your party the link to your personal game, and it is like an online version of pictionary. i usually have a video call with all the participants while we play, and that makes it 100x more fun.
- facetime frenzy! this was my favorite way to entertain myself and keep in touch with all my classmates – i would make huge facetime calls with upwards of 20 people in them and people would get added by different people, and it was super fun to talk to people that you wouldn’t necessarily reach out to on your own. i got super close to friends and friends-of-friends by doing this – and i was able to still be social and have genuine conversations with people outside of my household.
- i also have rediscovered so many online games that i used to play all the time on my ipod touch: my most recent obsession is the game 2048
remember not to get too drawn into your screen because games and technology can be addicting, so it is important to find a balance between work and fun. as long as you practice good habits, these activities are excellent ways to relax and enjoy your time in quarantine!
